Sarah Stebbing (Nicholls)

I started dancing with Susan Bentley’s Dancing School from the age of 6 to 19 years, studying Ballet, Tap, Modern and Stage. Susan’s inspiration and love for dance was instantly contagious and at an early age I quickly caught the same bug; all I wanted to do want to do was to dance – I dreamt about it every day… and I still do.

At the age of 16, I went to Newcastle College and studied a BTEC National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts/Dance and then on to a Bachelor of Performing Arts Dance Degree at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds. From all this training and my background with Susan, I won a summer Scholarship at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York, USA.

On my return to the UK, (between1996-2001) my professional dance career started. I worked with Ballet Loret, in Newcastle and then in London with Singh Productions, The English National Opera and The Millennium Dome Project. I met my husband Frank in London at that time who was a musician, previously a drummer for Primal Scream, Wolfhounds and Crawl.

We moved to Dubai together in 2001 to join my sister. I danced with Sharmila Dance as well as teaching dance, fitness and I studied a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. I married Frank in 2003 and started my family.

Now, I have 3 children, Ruby, Poppy and Oscar and I work as a teacher in a private school Jumeirah College teaching Dance/ Drama, Cultural Studies and Support for Learning. I momentarily stopped dancing but it has crept back into my life.

I am still dancing, performing, working full time and being a mother. Now I mainly dance for Quicenoarts (Q-Arts) and Sharmila Dance. Videos and links can be found on the internet.
